Founded in 1457 the students, professors and staff of the Universität Freiburg are an integral part of daily life in the ‘Capital of the Black Forest’. Aside from the numerous leisure activities which may be enjoyed in and near the city of Freiburg and its proximity to France and Switzerland, it is above all the variety of academic programs which attracts so many students to Freiburg. The University has a wide variety of degree programs in more than 60 fields.

The University is located in the city of Freiburg in the south west corner of Germany between the Black Forest and the Rhine valley, not far from the borders of Switzerland and France. Freiburg has over 210 000 inhabitants.
