For international students (PhD students see here)

The first step is always the most difficult. This is true, too, when you start your studies at the Universität Stuttgart: a foreign country, a new language and a different study system. Many questions arise like "What formalities do I have to complete? Where can I go shopping? How do I organize my studies?", and probably you think there is no one there to help you.

Not anymore!

With our new Welcoming Service you will be given the help you need to deal with these initial difficulties. We want to make you feel at home here very quickly.
If you wish, one of our students will offer you assistance just like a "big brother or sister" would. You will be contacted before your departure and - if you arrive between 8 a.m and 8 p.m - met at the Stuttgart airport or railway station and taken to your accommodation.

Your host-partner will also help you with all the formalities like registration or residence permits, etc. Soon you will know your way around the campus and Stuttgart, too. You will find out where the best bargains are and what to do in your leisure time and you will also have met other local students.

Participation in the Welcoming Service is free of charge. Please send or fax your application as soon as possible. To find a suitable host-partner for you we need your registration form at the latest four weeks before your arrival.
