Description of the University of Stuttgart
The Universität Stuttgart, which was founded in 1829, has integrated the social sciences and the humanities with engineering to become an internationally renown future-oriented place of research. Today nearly 19,000 students are studying to complete their degrees in one of the 44 degree courses offered by the 10 faculties. More than 4,500 of these are young men and women are international students.
The Universität Stuttgart holds a leading position in both basic and applied research and is proud of its tradition of close co-operation with industry as well as with other research institutions such as the Fraunhofer-Society for Production Engineering, the Baden-Württemberg Materials Testing Centre and the German Aerospace Research Institute. These close relationships also stimulate important impulses for teaching at the university.
