The first step is always the most difficult …
This is true, too, when you start your studies at the University of Stuttgart: a foreign country, a new language and a different study system. Many questions arise like: “What formalities do I have to complete? Where can I go shopping? How do I organize my studies?”, and probably you think there is no one there to help you.
The University of Stuttgart in cooperation with the Studentenwerk Stuttgart is offering a Welcoming Service for foreign students that provides the help you need to deal with these initial difficulties. We want to make you feel at home very quickly!
We can put you into contact with an experienced student who volunteers to assist you just like a "big brother or sister" would. You will be contacted before your departure and - if you arrive between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. - met at the Stuttgart airport or railway station and taken to your accommodation.
Your "buddy" will also help you with all the formalities like registration or residence permits, etc. Soon you will know your way around the campus and Stuttgart, too. You will find out where the best bargains are and what to do in your leisure time and you will also have met other local students.
Participation in the Welcoming Service is free of charge. Please send your online application as soon as possible even if you do not know the date of your arrival by this time. However, we need the missing information by mail at the latest 4 weeks before your arrival. Otherwise we can not guarantee you the Welcoming Service.
